{ a non-profit resource dedicated to helping brands that help people }
Brandkind.org is the first branding resource dedicated to philanthropic organizations and their causes. The concept is based on the premise that strong brands are not only beneficial to for-profit corporations, but can be assets to non-profit organizations that have a real impact socially and environmentally. "Helping brands that help people" ~ by providing brand development information to organizations that help many individuals, we can make a greater contribution to society.
objectives
1. to be a key online resource for pro bono brand development
2. to help non-profits use branding as a tool for change
3. to promote high quality, professional pro bono branding work
4. to encourage philanthropy in the branding community
5. to champion corporate citizenship in the community
Why Non-profit brands fail
> Amateur/"do-it-yourself" branding
> Brand development "by committee"
> Brand identity lacks credibility
> Cause/mission poorly positioned
> Complexity: benefits poorly articulated
> No consistency: lack of brand standards
> No distinction: cliché brand imagery
> No long term brand vision/plan
> No time: lack of human resources
> Not considering all brand "touchpoints"
> Not paying attention to brand detail
> Procrastination: "we'll brand it later"
> Unrealistic budget: lack of funding
> Using unqualified "volunteers"
> Weak/no trademark protection
